When we discussed about leadership, mostly it is
deliberated about how employers manage their employees or team leaders cope
their subordinates. Basically, practicing leadership skill is not as simple as
we thought. For certain companies, it is such an easy way to do that when the
firm is located in one area, however, how about those firms that already
banquet many branches? It must be hard
to control your business when there are tons of managers and staffs who located
in different areas, it is because, it is impossible for us to be in some places
at the same time. Thus, in this moment, I would like to share with you about
how to implement long distance leadership without jeopardizing your management.
First is link with your managers. As CEO you cannot be
everywhere at once, at this time, you need to connect with your managers, as a
motivator, problem solver as well as inspiratory to your managers. Second is
helping your managers to think like owners, it is to help your subordinates
feel that the business is also part of them and same as important as their own
business. Third is focus on specific goals, you need to make a specific goals
and mission statements among your managers, so that they understand what steps
should be taken next. Besides, it is helpful also to discuss about office
politics and what are problems that need to be conversed. Last, you need to
look the business through new lens. Sometimes, you need to be creative in
searching valid information, and the feedback about your business from second
opinion, not mentioning that you need to brag your kitchen to outsider, though,
but it is more like capture frame from other places.
Long distance leadership might useful for firms that
already conduct many branches, moreover, it is also useful for startup business
as well, even though you might be not enough budgets to hire many employees,
but if you hired some freelancer to help operate your business, the concept is
worth to try.
